Summary from Goodreads

“Edgy and honest, Faking Perfect is the real thing.” –Huntley Fitzpatrick

When Lexi Shaw seduced Oakfield High's resident bad boy Tyler Flynn at the beginning of senior year, he seemed perfectly okay with her rules:

1. Avoid her at school.
2. Keep his mouth shut about what they do together.
3. Never tease her about her friend (and unrequited crush) Ben.

Because with his integrity and values and golden boy looks, Ben can never find out about what she’s been doing behind closed doors with Tyler. Or that her mom’s too busy drinking and chasing losers to pay the bills. Or that Lexi’s dad hasn’t been a part of her life for the last thirteen years. But with Tyler suddenly breaking the rules, Ben asking her out, and her dad back in the picture, how long will she be able to go on faking perfect?

ARC Review

This is the first book I read by Rebecca Phillips and I assure you it won't be the last one!

It has everything you're looking for in a YA Cotemporary novel. Lexi is a teenager whose life is a mess and she's trying to put the pieces together in order to find out who she really is and what she's doing. There is also romance (of course!), a love triangle (kind of), a hot and dark mysterious guy from one side and the perfect boy that everyone adores from the other.

"So, when did you fall in love with me?" Another car rolled past, its headlights illuminating fis face and giving me a clear view of the devious, cocky smile I somehow knew would be there.
I grinned right back. "Just now."

"There, he shut off the car and, still not saying a word, leaned over the console and kissed me. And it was nice. He was a good kisser. Just a normal kiss with a respectable boy. Just like I'd always wanted."

What I really liked is that the story centers around our teenager heroine and the relationship she has with her mother who plays an essential role to Lexi's life. She has defined her past and present but now Lexi's future is in her hands. Most YA novels just scratch the surface on that subject but Faking Perfect deepens and reaches the core of their relationship.

I think that Faking Perfect is the most suitable title because it decsribes the book perfectly! Throughtout the story, Lexi is pretending to be someone else, to be perfect but in the end, nobody is. That's not a bad thing, that's life!

Verdict

Faking Perfect is a story about finding yourself and making the right desicions even if you have to try again and again because what keeps us going is the ability to forgive and move on. A summer must-read! If you haven't already added it to your TBR list, I recommend you to do it!

Rating: 4 stars!!!

About the Author

Rebecca Phillips has been a fan of contemporary young adult fiction ever since she first discovered Judy Blume at the age of twelve. After a brief stint writing bad poetry as a teenager, she finally found her niche with realistic, coming-of-age YA. Her third novel, OUT OF NOWHERE, was a finalist in the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. She's also the author of the best-selling JUST YOU series. Her next YA novel, FAKING PERFECT (Kensington), is set to be released on June 30, 2015.

Rebecca lives just outside the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, with her husband, two children, and one spoiled rotten cat. She absolutely loves living so close to the ocean. When she’s not tapping away on her laptop, she can be found vacuuming up cat hair, spending time with her family, watching reality TV, reading all different genres of books, or strolling around the bookstore with a vanilla latte in her hand.

Rebecca is represented by Carly Watters of P.S. Literary Agency.
